What this site covers

Telemark North America is a reference site about free-heel skiing on this continent: the two boot-and-binding norms and the hybrid that skirts both, the companies that still build the hardware, boot construction and flex, the racing formats and what became of them, and the named ranges and areas where the equipment is used.

Six sections divide the subject. The Norm covers the 75mm three-pin standard, the New Telemark Norm of 2007 and the tech-toe hybrids that followed. Who Builds It covers the makers, from 22 Designs in Driggs to Rottefella in Norway. The Boot covers bellows construction and flex. The Race covers the FIS formats and the independent events. The Places covers named North American scenes and the institutions that publish avalanche forecasts. The Turn describes the movement and summarises the published research on it.

Every dimension, date and product name is attributed in the sentence that carries it — to the norm’s own specification, to a maker’s published documentation, or to the institution that published the figure. The archive lists all 29 pieces.
